For QuickTime Player

Change File Format

The error is known to appear when a particular file format doesn't work with QuickTime. Change the file format to .wmv or .mov and check whether error 2048 still persists.

For Earlier Versions:

  • Open My Computer, press Alt key and select Tools | Folder Options
  • Click the View tab. Uncheck the box labelled "Hide extensions for known file types".
  • Locate the root directory where the audio file is saved.
  • Right click the audio file, select Rename option.
  • You'll see the file extension at the end of the file name. Clear it and replace it with ".wmv" or otherwise ".mov" (without quotes). Press ENTER.
  • When you're asked to confirm, click Yes.

For Windows 8:

  • Double click My Computer desktop icon.
  • Click the View tab in the ribbon interface at the top.
  • Check-up the box labelled "File name extensions".
  • Follow the steps mentioned in above paragraph for earlier versions.

Encode File in Required File Format

Encode the file in required file format. You need a transcoder for the same. Follow these steps:

For Windows 8 & All Earlier Versions:

  • Open VLC Media Player.
  • Click the File menu, select Streaming/ Exporting Wizard.
  • The wizard launches.
  • Choose streaming file. It displays in playlist or storage media.
  • Select required file format and specify a storage path.
  • Start the encode process.

Repair Registry

Registry may contain improper data and wrong entries. Scan and repair the Registry with the help of Download Reginout System Utilities.RegInOut System Utilities. You won't receive error 2048 again.

Use Codecs

Download the latest codes from the Internet. QuickTime requires codecs to play certain file types. Problem arises when the codecs are not detected.

Reinstall QuickTime Player

QuickTime Player installation could be corrupt. Uninstall and reinstall the program. This may fix your problem.

  • Click Start | Control Panel.
  • Click Programs | Uninstall a Program.

Add Website to the List of Trusted Websites

Trusted Websites is a list of all websites that you trust not to damage your computer or files. Add the website to the list of Trusted Websites and Flash won't show any error message.

For Earlier Versions of Windows:

  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Press the Alt key, select Tools | Internet Options.
  • Click the Security tab.
  • Select "Trusted Sites" icon. (A green colored icon which is 3rd in the list of all Zones)
  • Click Sites button.
  • Paste domain name of the website that you shows Flash error 2048.
  • Click Add | Close | OK.

For Windows 8:

  • Press the Windows Key.
  • Type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotes) in the Search Box.
  • Click the Apps icon.
  • Open it from the Search Results.
  • Follow the Steps 3-7 from the above paragraph given for earlier versions of Windows.

Delete History of Flash Enabled Websites you Visited

Flash Player saves a list of all Flash enabled websites that you visited. You receive error 2048 when this list becomes corrupt. Delete it to fix your problem.

For Windows 8 and Earlier Versions:

Reinstall Flash Player

There can be problems with the Flash Player installation. Reinstall it to fix the error message.

For Earlier Versions of Windows:

  • Click Start | Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a Program.
  • Select "Adobe Flash Player", click the "Uninstall" button.
  • After the uninstallation is completed, restart your machine and download a fresh setup online.

For Windows 8:

  • Press the Windows Key.
  • Type "Control Panel" in the Search Box.
  • Click the Apps icon.
  • Open it from the Search Results.
  • Follow the Steps 2-3 from the above paragraph given for earlier versions of Windows.
