- We all move JPEG files from one location to another. While some images are downloaded into the Downloads folder, we also move them to other destinations resulting in many duplicate copies.
- When you install programs on your PC, new files are temporarily extracted to temporary locations. The setup program copies those files from temporary directory to installation directory. These files remain undeleted after setup program completes its operation. These files contain the JPEG files and consume several MBs of your hard disk.
- There is a chance we might mess it up when we move files from one folder to other. In some cases, cloud backup folders also give a home to the redundant images.
- Photos collection programs such as the Picasa, Windows photo gallery also need to be trimmed down to avoid the occurrence of identical jpeg files.
