Perform Error Checking
Make sure your hard disk is healthy. Check your errors by using Disk Check-Up:
Your PC > System Partition > Properties > Tools > Check Now > Start.
Verify Game Cache
Double check the contents of your game cache. Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest fresh version of Steam components. Here’s how you can verify: Visit your game library. Load game properties> Local Files. Here you can verify the integrity of your game cache.
Delete & Fresh Download Steam Components
Use File Explorer. Go to C:\Program Files\Steam. There you can delete all items from that directory except these:
- ..\SteamApps
- ..\UserData
- ..\Steam.exe
The next time you reboot your PC and run Steam again, it downloads all deleted files again.
Exclude Steam from DEP
Go to your Control Panel. Click System and Security. Open advanced system settings. Access the Advanced performance settings. Now set Data Execution Prevention. It blocks only selected items. Add this file:
- C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe
Confirm and restart your PC (for the changes to take effects).
Run Steam with Admin Privileges
Yes, you can run it with sufficient administrative privileges. Use your Desktop shortcut. Check the box labeled Run this program as an administrator under Properties > Compatibility.
Change Folder Security
Remember the parent directory where you’ve installed Steam? Open it. Modify the security settings. Provide read, write and access permissions. This gives you complete control over its contents.
For iPod
Simply Format your iPod
Press Windows Key + X. Open the Computer Management tool. Format your iPod. Exit the tool. Beware: DO NOT choose the Quick Format option.
