Disable the Filter Keys

Filter Keys are part of the accessibility feature in Windows. Once activated, they make your keyboard typing slower as they actually coordinate with the OS to ignore brief or repeated keystrokes.

  1. Click the Start button and select Settings.
  2. Type Filter Keys in the Search box on the upper right corner.
  3. Open up Change how your keyboard works from the Search Results displayed in the Settings window.
  4. The new window opens the Make the keyboard easier to use page in the Control Panel window.
  5. Uncheck the Turn on Filter Keys box.
  6. Click OK.

 

Disable Windows Defender

The real-time protection of Windows Defender continuously monitors all background processes as well as any files that are currently open for virus threats. However, it makes the keyboard typing operation slower. Temporarily turn off Windows Defender and test your computer for a couple of days.   1. Open the Registry Editor tool by pressing Windows Key + R; typing RegEdit and then pressing Enter.
  2. Locate the following subkey:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SYSTEM | CurrentControlSet | Services | WinDefend
  1. Double click the Start string and replace its value to 4.
  2. Click OK, exit and restart PC.

 

Modify xorg.confg File Configurations

Add server flags section and turn on automatically adding devices and emptying of input data through the following steps:

  1. Double click This PC icon.
  2. Open the following directory:
  • C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ETC\X11\
  1. Right-click xorg.conf and select Open with | Notepad.
  2. Insert a new section to the file:

         Section “ServerFlags”

         Option “AutoAddDevices” “true”

         Option “AllowEmptyInput” “no”

  1. Click File | Save.

ATI Hotkey Poller is a keyboard hotkey. It helps to switch from an LCD to an external CRT, if any, with the use of keyboard shortcuts (Fn+F8 or Fn+Up Arrow). The slow keyboard problem manifests whenever this service is running in the background. Stop it using the Services tool as below:

  1. In the Search box, type Services.msc and open it.
  2. Scroll down the page; right-click ATI Hotkey Poller service; choose Properties.
  3. Select the Manual option from the Startup type drop-down box.
  4. Click the Stop button.
  5. Click Apply | OK.
