Check whether your computer is equipped with sufficient hardware and software required to play the game.

Use the Diagnostic Utility
Windows comes equipped with a prebuilt utility that detects and fixes any potential system issues.
- Press Windows Key + X.
- Select Search.
- In the Search Box, type Troubleshooting and open it from the Search Results.
- In the newly opened screen, click View all.
- Open Hardware and Devices.
- Click Advanced.
- Make ensure the box Apply repairs automatically is checked.
- Click Next.
Prevent Antivirus Conflicts
The Antivirus software might be preventing the game from loading properly. Try running it with the Antivirus disabled, or exclude the game files from the real-time scan, a feature that checks for infected files as and when files are accessed.
- Open your Antivirus.
- Click Settings icon.
- Click Additional tab.
- Click Threats and Exclusions | Manage Exclusions.
- Click Add.
- Click Browse.
- Specify the following file:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Andromeda\Core\ActivationUI.exe
- Select all the boxes under Protection Components category:
- File Antivirus, Web Antivirus, Mail Antivirus, Scan, Application Control, and System Watcher
- Select Active.
- Click Add.
Disable Motion Blur and Full Screen
You are trying to play the game in full-screen mode with GstRender enabled. Try attempting to run it with both the features disabled.
- Click File Explorer.
- Click View, select Hidden items.
- Open the following directory:
- C:\Users\%username%\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect Andromeda\
- Right-click the Save file, select Open with | Notepad.
- Click Edit | Find.
- Type GstRender.FullscreenMode in the Find what text box.
- Click Find next.
- Replace the string value with 0.
- In the same manner, replace the value of WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable to 0
- Click File | Save.
Set Optimum Screen Resolution
Your game does not support the current monitor resolution. Change it to a compatible resolution and then re-launch the game.
- Right-click on an empty area of the screen.
- Select Personalize.
- In the Find a setting text box, type Resolution.
- Open Change the screen resolution from the drop-down results.
- Select 1920*1080 or maximum of 3840*2160, whichever possible.
- Click Apply.
Delete Mass Effect game files
The game fails to run with a black screen due to corrupt game files. Deleting the files might be helpful.
- Quit the game.
- Open the game installation directory:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Andromeda\BioGame\CookedPC\Movies\
- Delete the following files one by one:
- BWLogo.bik
- Db_standard.bik
- ME_EAsig_720p_v2_raw.bik
- GLO_01_Relay.bik
- UCW_Loading_Flyby.bik
Change BIOEngine Setting
Make the following changes to the BIOEngine file in the Documents directory.
- Go to the following directory:
- C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect\Config\
- Look for the BIOEngine.ini file.
- Open its contents. (Right-click > Open with > Notepad).
- Search for Trilinear as set it to be True.
- Set the value of MaxAnisotropy to 16.
- Save the changes, exit.
Perform Installer Repair
Steps to perform Installer Repair are outlined below.
- Open the Origin Client.
- Go to the games library.
- Right-click Mass Effect for PC Black Screen game, select Repair Install.
Enable Origin in Game
EA Games can be played through Origin, a client that brings the latest shooter, adventure, sim games. Activate the feature as follows:
- Open the Origin > Settings.
- Click the In-Game tab.
- Uncheck the Enable Origin in Game box.
Clear SetUp Files
Some of the installer files are corrupt, deleting them might fix the issues you are facing.
- Launch Origin.
- Go to the games library.
- Click the Settings icon in the upper right corner of your screen.
- Click Delete all game installers.
- Reboot your computer.
Change the Game Affinity
The CPU Affinity feature enables binding Mass Effect and other games/ applications to a single core CPU.
- Double-click the Mass Effect desktop icon.
- Minimize the window.
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys simultaneously.
- Click the Show details icon.
- Click the Details tab.
- Right-click Mass Effect <Version>.exe, select Set Affinity.
- Check the CPU 0 and CPU 1 checkboxes.
- Click OK.
Nvidia settings
In order to run the game without conflicts, disable any unsupported Nvidia features.
- Right-click anywhere on the Desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Click Manage 3D Settings.
- Click the Program Settings tab.
- Click Browse and locate the Mass Effect executable file from the following directory:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Andromeda\Core\ActivationUI.exe
- Set the Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames feature value to 0.
- Disable the Vertical Sync feature as well.
- Apply the settings, restart your computer.
