Create EACore.ini File with Specified Configurations
The problem is that the EACore.ini file contains misconfigurations. Overwrite the existing file with new valid configurations.
For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista
- Start Origin in R&D Mode.
- Press Windows Key + X, select Run.
- Type Notepad in Open textbox, click OK.
- Enter the following text into the Notepad file:
[connection] EnvironmentName=production
[Feature] CdnOverride=akamai - Click File | Save.
- Specify the following:
File Name: EACore.ini
File Type: All Types
Location: Desktop - Click Save button. Exit out of the screen.
- Now that you have a new file on your Desktop, i.e. EACore.ini.
- Double-click Origin desktop icon. A new prompt will be displayed promoting whether you would like to import new configurations from EACore.ini file and overwrite existing. Click the Yes button to confirm.
Repair Game Installation
Another possibility is that the game installation has become corrupt. One or more game files are missing, renamed or deleted.
For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista
- Open Origin Client.
- Go to Games Library.
- Right-click Battlefield 4 game icon, select Repair install from the context menu options.
- Wait till the setup re-installs your game.
Turn Off Network Throttling Feature of Multimedia Class Scheduler Service
Do not stop the Multimedia Class Scheduler service from running. Only turn off its network throttling feature as shown below:

- Press Windows Key + R to open up the Run dialog box.
- Type RegEdit, press Enter.
- This opens up Registry Editor.
- Locate the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
- Double click NetworkThrottlingIndex string in the right-hand panel.
- In the Edit DWORD (32-bit) Value dialog box that opens, type “FFFFFFFF” in Value Data textbox.
- Click OK.
- Exit out of the screen. Restart your PC.
Start Punk Buster Service
Punk Buster service has to be started using Task Manager if it is already stopped. Instructions are given as under:
For Windows 8.1/ 8
- Right-click Taskbar, select Task Manager.
- Click More details link. It resizes the UI.
- Click Services tab.
- This opens up a list of all services- including running and stopped services.
- Right click “PnkBstrB” service, select Start option.
For Windows 7/ Vista
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys.
- Click Start Task Manager.
- Refer Steps # 3-5 under Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.
Rerun File as Administrator and Test Services
Pbsvc.exe file in the Battlefield 4 installation directory could not have sufficient administrative privileges. Rerun the file as administrator.
For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista
- Double-click Computer icon on Desktop.
- Open the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4 Beta - Right-click pbsvc.exe, select Run as administrator.
- Click Test Services button.
Modify Registry Configs
Windows Registry is the most important component in your system. Change the following settings using Registry Editor:
For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type RegEdit in it, click OK.
- Locate the following subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows - Double click ErrorMode; replace the existing value with 2.
- Click OK.
