Saving Your Own Snaps
While saving other people’s snap is a bit tricky, saving your own tends to be comparatively easy.
To do this, open Snapchat settings before you send out a snap. Visit the Memories section and choose to add the snap either to your Memories or Camera Roll. If you save the photo to Memories, it will be backed up on the Snapchat servers. While saving to Camera Roll will give access to your phone’s gallery. Furthermore, you can also save your stories by visiting the Stories section and selecting your story to be saved.
Saving Other Users’ Snaps
There are 4 methods to save other users’ snaps. Here we will be taking a brief look at all of these methods.
- Take a Screenshot
The easiest way to save a snap is by taking a screenshot using your phone. If you are using an iPhone X or 8, simply hold the Power button and the Volume Up button at the same time. Whereas, if you are using an Android device, the same function will work. Otherwise, simply visit the shortcut menu to take a screenshot.
- Use a different phone
This is going to be the least effective way of saving a snap. Simply grab another phone and use it to capture the Snapchat photo or video and then send it to yourself. It may sound weird but it will help you get the job done.
- Go Offline
In some cases, you do not want Snapchat to notify the sender about their photos and videos being saved. For this reason, turn-off your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or any other feature that might connect to the networks. Then turn the Airplane Mode On and save the snap. Wait a while before turning the Wi-Fi on so that the notification is delayed.
- Use QuickTime
Using QuickTime to save snaps is going to be a bit awkward but it is going to provide high-quality photos and videos. To do this, connect your phone to the laptop and launch QuickTime. Then, select Choose File and click New Movie Recording. Now select your iPhone as a recording device. Hit Record and open Snapchat. Record or save whatever you want.
Other considerations
When people release Snapchats, that does not mean that they are doing it just because someone will save it. Some people consider it rude for others to save their photos and videos. Furthermore, Snapchat gives huge importance to user privacy. This is why it notifies the sender when someone saves the photo or video. Therefore, it is suggested that you ask the sender about saving their photos or videos. Do not feel disappointed if they refuse. It is better to ask rather than Snapchat notifying the sender directly. You would not want to get blocked or get your account reported for a violation.
