If you’re getting Steam error code 80 follow these solutions to get it fixed.

Verify Integrity of Steam Cache
The contents of Steam cache folder are probably corrupted. Verifying and repairing the same will fix Steam error code 80.
For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista
- Open Steam.
- Right-click the game that displays an error message.
- Select Properties from context menu.
- In the new dialog that opens, click Local Files tab.
- Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache button.
Verify Folder Security Permissions
Make sure the Steam application has sufficient privileges to retrieve required data on time.
For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista
- Exit Steam and all other programs.
- Double click Computer icon on Desktop; open following location:
- For 32-bit: C:\Program Files\
- For 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\
- Right-click the Steam subfolder, select Properties.
- In the General tab, uncheck the Read Only checkbox.
- Click Apply | OK.
Add Steam to DEP Exception List
Make sure there are no conflicts between Steam files and Data Execution Prevention. The latter is a security feature in Windows.
For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista
- Right-click Computer icon, select Properties.
- Click Advanced system settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Settings (Performance).
- Click Data Execution Prevention tab.
- Select the second option, and then click Add button.
- Browse and add the following file:
- For 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe
- For 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe
- Click OK | OK.
Correct Incorrect Regional Settings
Verify whether regional settings are properly configured.
For Windows 8.1/ 8
- Press Windows Key + X, select Control Panel.
- Click Clock, Language and Region icon.
- Click Region icon.
- Configure the regional settings properly. Check all settings in Formats and Location tabs.
- Click OK.
Disable Firewall Protection
Do you use Windows Firewall or any third party security software? Disable the Firewall protection temporarily.
For Windows 8.1/ 8
- Press Windows Key + X, select Control Panel.
- Click System and Security | Windows Firewall.
- Click Turn Windows Firewall On or Off link on the left panel.
- Disable your Firewall protection, click OK.
For Windows 7/ Vista
- Click Start, select Control Panel.
- Click Windows Firewall icon.
- Refer Steps # 3-4 under Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.
Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redist
This package is required to smoothly run your games. Steam error code 80 appears when Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable files are corrupted.
Update the Drivers
Visit the websites of your graphics card manufacturer. Go to Downlthe oads section. Specify your model, the operating system you use and download the latest drivers.
Delete Corrupt Steam Apps
If you’ve recently downloaded new Steam Apps, delete them as follows:
For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista
- Open Steam installation directory. (Refer to step # 7 under Add Steam to DEP Exception List).
- Delete the folder called “SteamApps”. Remember, you don’t have to delete the folder permanently. Simply move it to the Recycle Bin so that you can restore the same again, if required to do so.
