Error Message Starting Windows 8: Resource Library Not Found

An error appears during Windows 8 start-up interval that the Resource Library was not found. The error description is clear enough to understand the actual problem. This article provides various ways to prevent reoccurrence of the error.

Restore the PC

The first thing you should try is to restore the PC to an earlier date. If you remember whether the PC was working fine a week ago, restore it to that date provided you’ve a restore point available to do so.

  • Right click the Computer icon on your desktop.
  • Select Properties from the context menu.
  • Click “Advanced system settings” link.
  • System Properties dialog will open with Advanced tab as default.
  • Click the System Protection tab.
  • Click System Restore button.
  • The System Restore wizard will load. Click the Next button.
  • Check-up the box named “Show more restore points” if you would like to explore more restore points available along with system-created ones.
  • Select the most appropriate restore point to rollback your PC.
  • Click the Next button, and follow the on-screen instructions.
 

Boot the Computer in the Safe Mode

Safe Mode loads only basic drivers that are required to run the computer. Microsoft and Non-Microsoft programs are not loaded. Error Message Starting Windows 8: Resource Library Not Found appears due to incompatible drivers and malfunctioning startup programs.

 
  • Press Windows Key + R simultaneously.
  • Type “MSCONFIG” in the Open textbox.
  • Click the OK button.
  • System Configuration tool will open.
  • Click the Boot tab.
  • Check-up the “Safe boot” checkbox under “Boot Options” frame.
  • Select the “Minimal” option.
  • Click Apply, and then OK.
  • Restart the PC by clicking “Restart” button in the subsequent prompt.
 

Repair Operating System Files

The operating system files in the C: drive could be corrupt. Check for corruption of th system files and repair them, if required to do so.

  • Press Windows Key + X.
  • Click “Command Prompt (Admin)”
  • Provide administrative privileges, if required to do so.
  • Type the following command:
    sfc /scannow
  • Press the ENTER key of your keyboard to execute the above command.
 

Uninstall Recent Updates

If you’ve recently updated your system, uninstall the newly installed updates. The steps are outlined below:

  • Press Windows Key + X.
  • Select Search.
  • Type “View installed updates” in the Search Box.
  • Click the Settings icon.
  • Sort the updates by the date of installation. Click the Installed On column.
  • Right click an update, select the Uninstall option.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Reboot your machine.
